Interview

Thank you so much for joining me today, Kim! When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

When I was reading something on-line and thought that I could do the same thing. A story popped in my head and the rest is history.

Love it! What has been the most difficult part about being a writer?

Staying on track and not getting distracted when another WIP pops in my head.

Haha, yes I can definitely see how that would be a challenge! Who are your favorite authors?

Isaac Marion, VC Andrews, Johanna Lindsey

Those are some great authors :) What authors inspire you?

Isaac Marion because he took a really twisted idea and made it into something amazing and Johanna Lindsey because she is pure fun.

I've never read anything by Isaac Marion but I'll definitely check him out! Do you like to plan your scenes out or do you just wing it?

I do a loose outline so I make sure all my characters have GMC's and an arc, etc., but then I let the scenes come organically.

That sounds like a great method :) What type of books do you like to read?

Romance and Erotica – I am true to my genre.

Those are two of my favorite genres lol. What do you like to do in your free time?

Write, but if I'm not writing I like to shop (yeah, don't judge me).

OMG, I adore shopping! Where is your favorite place to vacation?

Palm Springs because I don’t have to get on a plane and there is awesome shopping.

Hmmm, never been there but I wonder if I can talk my hubby into taking me lol. What’s your best Valentine’s day story?

My husband and I never really celebrated Valentine's day, and then one year out of nowhere for no reason he got me flowers and chocolate. He really surprised me, which is hard to do. Now he does it every year, I would be so disappointed if he didn't.

Aww, that's so sweet!! Why did you choose to write contemporary romance?

I think it is fun and I like to push the boundaries in modern day.

I couldn't agree more :) What has been the most fun about working on your books?

I think dreaming up scenes that push the limits and putting my characters through hell.

LOL! I love it! What has been the hardest scene for you to write?

Honestly, I had a scene in my current novel that when I was with a tutor she sort of ran me over the coals. I had skipped over the scene while writing the novel and then was going to add it in edits. When the teacher berated me, I stopped editing and went on to write several other stories. For some reason I had a block at that point. I think because of the drama. Also, I thought the characters wanted to do one thing when they clearly wanted to do something else. I listened to them and finally wrote the scene.

Oh yes, that definitely sounds like it was a very hard scene to write. Do you have any favorite characters?

I absolutely love Jason in my upcoming novel, Trifecta, because he learns so much during the story and he has long bangs that I love!! I am also in love with Riley from Closure because she tries to be so tough but she isn't.

I have to say I loved Therin so now I can't wait to read Jason haha. How did you come up with the premise for Eternity

The call for subs were for cupid stories, and I didn't want my cupid to be a little person with an arrow, I wanted the more sexy version. Then I just started thinking what a cupid would be like in modern day.

I for one love the way you approached Cupids. Tell us more about the world in Eternity. Besides Cupids, are there other supernatural elements?

Well as a cupid he has certain powers, like the ability to see things through a crystal, and he is immortal.

I seriously wanted one of those crystals for myself lol. Therin is a Cupid. Tell us more about him and what it means to be a Cupid.

In this day in age they are calling the Cupids Facilitators in they help the humans find love rather than force the issue. Arrows and other "fake" means are forbidden. They take on more the roles of counselors.

I must admit that I giggled when I saw they were given a more politically correct name :) Will Eternity be part of a series?

This was a stand alone, but it is the first book in the Keith Publications Hearts and Arrows line which is pure romance! It was pretty exciting to be the flagship story. I hope to have another story in that line.

Aww, I was hoping we'd get to see more from Lucy and Therin. If you had the chance to live for eternity, would you? Why or why not?

That is an excellent question. In the words of Lucy from Eternity – "Infinite can be as terrifying as finite."

You know, she definitely has a point lol. What's next for you?

I have a story releasing at the end of February – The Promise, and my novel, Trifecta, will be coming out in Spring/Summer from Hot Ink Press. I just had my 1Night Stand story accepted by Decadent Publications, so that is more than exciting! After I hit send on the edits for Trifecta I am starting my first series! I am in the process of mapping it out.

Wow you are busy! Well, we are out of time so is there anything else you want your readers to know?

Never give up no matter what naysayers try to bring you down!!

Alright my lovelies, believe me when I say you MUST read Eternity! It's so good! Now to see just how good :) Let's jump to my review!

Review of Eternity

About the book:
Publisher: Keith Publications, LLC
Price: $3.99

Genre: Contemporary  romance
Description (from Amazon.com):

Therin Athan faces a choice…eternal salvation or eternal damnation.
After centuries of pining away for a love never realized, Therin's last assignment as a Cupid depends on helping the lonely, shy Lucy Carlton. The mission's success or failure will determine where he is transferred. He can study the heavens or be condemned to hell.

Lucy Carlton spent her life searching the stars for answers, but finds them in the form of a gorgeous man who comes in her dreams. Therin shows her the joys of physical pleasure and encourages her to try to find love. She wakes with a new found confidence, but soon her timid nature takes over and she retreats back to the comfort of her home…alone.

With only a week to decide his fate, Therin breaks every rule. What starts as a job to save himself, becomes a love that can never be…except maybe in eternity.

What I liked:

I loved the premise! It felt very fresh and it was a neat concept. I REALLY loved Therin lol. This was a sexy book but there was plenty of plot in there as well. I'll be honest, sometimes straight romance bores me but this kept me very interested. I wanted to know how it was going to end and couldn't put it down!

What I didn't like:

I wanted it to be longer! Then again all novellas I want to be longer but really, I hated having to say goodbye to Therin. I'd have liked a little bit more to the ending, maybe a mini epilogue or something. The ending got a tad confusing for me with how everything worked out in the end. It's hard to go into specifics without giving anything away but let's just say I'd have liked a tad more explanation and a few extra pages to help tell the tale :)

Overall Verdict: 4.5/5 Blue Duckies!!

Yes, there are 5 duckies there when I rated it 4.5. Seriously though, could YOU cut one in half? No? Didn't think so.

I thought this was very fresh and loved the premise. Therin is damn sexy and I adored Lucy. My only beef was the ending felt just a tinge lacking in explaining everything. I still HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone!

Meet Kim!

Kim Carmichael began writing eight years ago when her need for graphic sex scenes and love of happy endings inspired her to create her own. She has a weakness for bad boys and techno geeks, and married her own computer whiz after he proved he could keep her all her gadgets running. When not writing, she can usually be found slathered in sunscreen trolling Los Angeles and helping top doctors build their practices.
