Interview with Aria Williams!!

Hello my lovelies! It's time for our Thursday Interview! First of all, I have to ask, who loves Thursdays?! I mean just think about it: tomorrow is Friday and the end of the work week! Thursdays mean the week is almost done! We need more Thursday love.

I digress lol. Join me as I welcome the fantabulous Aria Williams to The Lindsay Show!

Thank you so much for stopping by, Aria! It's a pleasure to have you on The Lindsay Show! When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

I decided to be a writer only a year ago, I got an idea in my head and since then I haven’t stopped writing.

That's around when I decided to start writing :) Go us! What has been the most difficult part about being a writer?

The most difficult part has getting myself out there and getting people interest.

That is most definitely a challenge for us all. Do you use a pen name? If so, how did you come up with your pen name?

I do use a pen name, I have always liked the name Aria and my sons name is William, so I put them together.

Love that :) It's so awesome you have a part of your son in your pen name. Who are your favorite authors?

My favorite authors are Richelle Mead, Abbi Glines, Jennifer L Armentrout and Philipia Gregory.

Those are all great authors. What authors inspire you?

I think it would have to be Richelle Mead the most, she pulled me in the direction of young adult

I have to admit I've never read her work, though I've heard she's fantastic. What type of books do you like to read?

I love you read Young adult, New adult, Paranormal and Romance

I adore those genres. What do you like to do in your free time?

I love to walk my Siberian Huskies, have BBq with close friends and family and listening to music

Aww, huskies are so awesome <3 Where is your favorite place to vacation?

My favorite place is the Gold Coast Australia

I've never been there, but I keep trying to convince my hubby to take me to Australia. He's not a fan of the super long flight lol. If you were stuck on a desert island and could have only three things, what would they be?

I would take my kindle that would have a never ending supply of ebook, its recharger and a case of moscato

Can't argue with those priorities :) Are you a plotter or a pantser with your writing?

I try to plot but sometimes my books have a mind of their own.

I love when books take on a life of their own! Why did you choose to write a paranormal?

I enjoy the paranormal genre because the possibities are as far as your minds willing to wander.

I couldn't agree more! What has been the most fun about working on your books?

Exploring new characters and making them my own.

That truly is an amazing process, isn't it?What has been the hardest scene for you to write?

The hardest scene would have to be Nate’s farewell; I wanted it to seem believable.

I can certainly see how that could be difficult to write. Do you have any favorite characters? If so, why?

My favorite character would have to be Indy, she possess this inner strength that I admire, she was a character that I needed to develop for issues that were happening in my own life.

She sounds fantastic and I love her name. How did you come up with the premise for Heavenly Hell

This story fell together in my head, and developed more as I poured out my emotions.

I can't wait to read this and experience those emotions first hand! Tell us about the world/setting in Heavenly Hell. How did you come up with it and is any of it based on personal experiences?

The story is based in a small Australian city in central west NSW, This whole story was my way to express my feeling, Heavenly hell was born from my own emotions, I was being harassed and felt helpless in the situation. I developed Indy to get over this obstacle and I become mentally and emotionally stronger.

I'm sorry for your situation but I'm glad you were able to turn it into something more positive by writing this book <3 Tell us more about your main characters please.

Indiana is a fallen angel who fell from heaven because she fell in love with a demon, she let him into heaven and god punished her. She dislike the male race except for a few young friends she has met in the small town she lives in. Nate is a new comer to town and is on a mission to, if he completes his mission he will receive his angel wings and be reunited with his family. He just didn’t except for stunning Indy to come along and turn his life upside town.

Indy sounds so awesome. Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your book?

This book deal with a lot issue that women of all ages face, I hope it gives them the strength to find the appropriate channels to escape abusive relationships and become the extraordinary women they were meant to be.

I think it's wonderful for you to write with such purpose. Is this part of a series? If so, what can we expect with the other books?

Yes this is a series, you can expect two more books with a possibility of a spin off.

Yay! I always love finding new series! What's next for you?

I will be writing the second book in this series and the second book in a series I am currently working on called the Banished from grace series

Thank you so much for joining me today, Aria! Before you go, is there anything else you want your readers to know?

Check out my new release called Banished from grace that will be published with Limitless publishing soon.

Thanks again, Aria! Lovelies, be sure to check out her work!

Interview with Bonnie Bernard!!

Hello my lovelies! It's that time again, time to meet another fantabulous author here on The Lindsay Show. Please welcome the amazingly awesome Bonnie Bernard to the show!! Grab your coffee or tea and let's get started :)

On February 28, there will be a "Hell on Wheels" contest/giveaway over at HELL (see below for link)!!!
Don't miss it!

Interview

Thank you so much for joining me, Bonnie! When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

At six year old, my (then best) friend and I scribbled our names with markers all over her mom’s freshly-painted living room wall. We got in significant trouble and I was banished from the house…but the incident made me realize that writing things makes people notice you.

LMAO! I have to admit, that's probably the best response I've ever gotten to that question!! What has been the most difficult part about being a writer?

Promotion. As a life-long self-employed contractor, I have always cringed when staring into the self-promotion abyss. Promoting my books is no different.

Yes, navigating the tricky promotional waters is not easy by any means. Who are your favorite authors?

I like classic literature, so Jane Austen, DH Lawrence, or any Bronte sister.

Ooo, those are great authors! What authors inspire you?

Stephen King and JK Rowling…I respect their human compassion.

I think they're both amazing authors and certainly inspiring. Are you a plotter or a pantser with your writing?

Pantser. Sometimes I’m flying by the seat of even less than that.

Haha, me too! I think it makes things more exciting :) What type of books do you like to read?

Historical fiction, supernatural fiction, weird fiction, and a peppering of non-fiction essays.

LOL, I love the term "weird fiction" :) What do you like to do in your free time?

Read, hike barefoot, play in my garden, walk my dog, plot world domination in the coffee shop with friends.

I must show my husband your response so he knows I'm not the only one who likes to go barefoot!! Where is your favorite place to vacation?

I like Honduras best, but when I make it to Switzerland, I might change my mind.

Never been to either place but Honduras must've been gorgeous. I want pictures sometime! If you were stuck on a desert island and could have only three things, what would they be?

Funny you should ask, because I once WAS stuck on a desert island (for a whole four hours, ha). Solar-powered batteries, my computer, and my husband.

Really? You just leave it at that?! *whimper* We will have words later lol. Why did you choose to write paranormal?

It gives me the right to break a few rules and yet it demands believability.

I think that's one of the reasons I adore paranormal, too. Where's the fun in obeying all the rules? What has been the most fun about working on your books?

I’m wild about playing with my characters, except when they knock on my head in the middle of the night and insist I listen to them instead of snoozing.

Hahaha I bet it's exciting and a little frustrating to be woken up in the middle of the night by your characters. They must have lots to say! What has been the hardest scene for you to write?

Fight scenes. Acting them out for realism purposes isn’t fun either.

Yeah, fight scenes have been tough for me to write as well. Do you have any favorite characters?

Out of the Midnight Hunter Trilogy - Howie Evil and Mo Bently are my favorite, because they come up with their own lines. I just have to sit there and type out what they say. It’s easy and entertaining.

OMG I love those names! How did you come up with the premise for your Midnight Hunter Trilogy?

It was a dare. As in, “I dare you to come up with a supernatural book.”

Haha, again you taunt us with mystery! Tell us about the books in the trilogy please. Is Donna the heroine in all three?

Donna is the protagonist who has the most to lose and who grows the most. She starts out as a shy, unsure, almost helpless thing and winds up…well, no spoilers, but she has to learn a thing or two about kicking ass in order to stay alive and protect her family.

I think I'm going to like her :) Can you explain more about Eternal Partner, Chaos, and the other supernatural elements?

Eternal Partners are like soul mates, and when you meet yours the way you can tell is by the wild reaction of your own heartbeat when you’re near the other person. Not everybody gets an Eternal Partner, and it’s pretty rare for supernatural characters (such as the vampires and demons in the Midnight Hunter Trilogy). When a supernatural character finds a mortal Eternal Partner, rest assured the gods have big plans for that couple.

Chaos is a goddess with a snarky temper, and her limited power in the physical world makes her angry enough to throw tantrums in the best ways she knows how (tempests, volcanoes, tornadoes, the usual stuff).

The Midnight Hunter Trilogy features Underworld vampires, demons, and gods who are compelled to interact with plain ole humans. They need to fit in, they try to fit in, and they work like mad to fit in. That struggle is fun for me to watch, and I hope it’s fun for the readers too. I assure you, it’s not always fun for the vampires, demons, and gods. But when it is…well, crazy things happen.

Well lovelies, I don't know about you but I'm now dying to read this!! I know this is a trilogy but will there be any other books featuring Donna or any other characters from the Midnight Hunter Trilogy?

I’m working on a spin off now with a few new characters and several old favorites.

Yay spinoffs! I’ve got to ask. If faced with college or taking on demons and Chaos, which would you rather face?

I went to college and it was a challenge, but I’d like to tackle demons.

LOL! There are times I think I'd agree with you thinking back to my college days ;) What's next for you?

I’m working on the Midnight Hunter Trilogy spin off and on a different (weird and fun) novel.

I can't wait to see more from you! Anything else you want your readers to know?

Thanks for supporting my crazy characters, and for supporting the characters of other indies. Our world grows as you participate in it!

It has been a pleasure having you with me today, Bonnie!! Lovelies, stick around to learn more about her books!

The Midnight Hunter Trilogy...Buy it Now!

Donna McCormick is a smart, pretty college student with a best friend, a dream of a normal life, and a promising future. Donna’s twenty-first birthday is just one week away. Unfortunately, so is her murder. Pursued in her dreams by a mysterious man who claims to be her Eternal Partner, in her waking hours Donna faces another who claims to be the same. One wants her dead and the other promises to keep her alive. Too bad she can’t tell which is which. It doesn’t help that neither is entirely honest, or for that matter entirely human.

To make matters worse, just when she needs her most, Donna’s best friend deserts her and her knight in five speed armor disappears. With no other choice, Donna seeks help from a legendary demon. He hates interruptions almost as much as he hates humans, and Donna is guilty of being both. His finger is on the trigger, Donna is in his sights, and he’s promised to blow her brains out if she gets any closer. Desperate, she takes a step toward the monster...
College is a distant memory, the fate of the future is in Donna’s hands, and the world is on a collision course with Chaos. Too bad the only way out is down.

Interview with Jeff LaFerney!

Hello my lovelies and welcome to the first interview of February here on The Lindsay Show! Joining me today is the fantabulous Jeff LaFerney :) Grab your coffee or tea and let's get started!

Interview

Thank you so much for stopping by, Jeff! When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

I’m a school teacher. I just write for fun. Writing’s a hobby. I work hard at it to produce the best material I can, but I won’t consider myself a writer until I’m making a living at it.

Oh that's awesome that you're a teacher! I have a great respect for teachers :) What has been the most difficult part about being a writer?

Patience. I’m really not a particularly impatient person, but I have to be good at whatever I do, and looking at sales numbers or waiting for the release dates and such make me more impatient than usual.

I feel exactly the same way! Who are your favorite authors?

I really like Harlan Coben, Robert B. Parker, John Grisham, Michael Crichton, Jeffery Deaver, James Patterson and many others. I love John Irving’s books. I like David Gemmell’s fantasy books too.

Those are some great authors :) What authors inspire you?

I like characteristics of all the authors I listed above, but the authors who inspire me are the ones who come out of nowhere to produce a best-seller.

I envy those people's ability haha. Do you like to plan your scenes out or do you just wing it?

I wing my plan. I always have an end in mind, and I always have the story pretty straight in my head, but sometimes getting there is a surprise.

Hahahaha I love how you put that!! What type of books do you like to read?

I love mysteries and suspense novels best, but my favorite books usually seem to be more literary. I like to get lost in a good fantasy adventure too.

I'm always up for a good fantasy adventure ;) What do you like to do in your free time?

What free time? I work full time, have a family, and write. When I actually have some time with no responsibilities, I like to read and I like to watch sports. I’ll exercise, and I do lots of things with my family.

LOL! I keep asking that question hoping someone has a secret to having free time but of course no one does ;) Where is your favorite place to vacation?

I’ve been on a couple of Caribbean cruises that I loved. I like to go places with hiking, rock climbing, waterfalls, and such too.

I'm dying to go on a cruise but have never had the chance. What’s your best Valentine’s day story?

I proposed to my wife on Valentine’s Day, and 26 years of marriage later, we’re still going strong.

Aww that's wonderful! Congratulations :) Why did you choose to write mysteries?

I love reading them, first of all, but I liked the challenge of leaving clues and misdirection. It’s been fun working out the intricacies of a mystery plot.

I have a bit of a mystery to my book and you're right, it's so much fun leaving clues and trying to find ways to hint at the killer but not give it away. What has been the most fun about working on your books?

I like to have minor characters with quirky personalities and write them into fun scenes with humorous moments and dialogue.

Ooo I love when authors do that! Now I'm really intrigued. What has been the hardest scene for you to write?

For Bulletproof, I had to start the novel with a brain surgery scene. I would research and read words I didn’t know, so I’d look them up and they were defined by words I didn’t know. I did loads of searching and reading to accomplish a realistic scene. For Skeleton Key, I needed to have a train wreck but discovered that train malfunctions are next to impossible, so I had to have an “expert” mess with the brakes. I figured that scene out too, and if you knew how non-mechanical I am, you’d be amazed at how it turned out.

Oh wow, that would be a very difficult scene to start your book off with and now I'm even more intrigued. Do you have any favorite characters?

Again, I like a lot of my minor characters simply because I love creating their unique personalities. I have a lady in my newest book called The Jumper who’s a hoot. But in reality, I like Tanner Thomas most because of his personality. I also like Jasper, my midget attorney for his comic relief.

Tell us more about Clay and Tanner Thomas, please.

Clay is Tanner’s father. They both had injuries to the medulla oblongata (a part of the brain) through strangulation at birth. They both are able to take in and control messages to their brains that others cannot. The end result is they have various mind-control abilities that they think shouldn’t be used selfishly. Instead they use their gifts to help others and solve crimes. Clay has many personal struggles in the books while Tanner is a happy-go-lucky superstar athlete and a great son to his terrific father. They have a great relationship.

Alright, you win. I'm hooked now haha. Bulletproof is the third in the series. Tell us about the previous two books please.

Loving the Rain is a suspense. A rival from Clay’s past tries to hurt Clay and his family. Throughout this book, Clay and Tanner learn to deal with their abilities while Clay struggles with marriage issues and Tanner competes on the sports field. They have to stop an evil criminal before he hurts the entire family. In Skeleton Key, Clay and Tanner solve a seven-year-old murder mystery to help a woman and her son. The murder victim is a ghost who Clay can hear, and the ghost believes he died of a heart attack. The coroner believes he died in a train wreck. All the suspects think they killed him. It makes for an interesting mystery, especially since the ghost is the antagonist in this book, and he’s not very cooperative.

Since Bulletproof is the third in the series, are readers able to start at this book, or should they read the previous books first?

Each book happens one year in the Thomases’ lives after the previous book, but all of them can be read alone. There is a definite beginning and ending, and readers are caught up in each book with any vital information from the previous books.

Hear that lovelies? You don't have to read the others if you want to start with this one :) Will there be more books in this series and if so, what can we expect?

I’m planning on writing two books in a time-traveler series before returning to Clay and Tanner, but I have an idea brewing right now. Jasper, my midget attorney, is seeking help to find what has happened to his cousin. Tanner has a vision of a murder and tries to keep it from happening. When it happens anyway, Tanner is determined to find the murderer and figure out the story of Jasper’s cousin. I’m thinking he’ll be the primary character with Clay helping this time around.

I'm always happy to hear when authors have lots of books planned! Tell us more about the mind control aspects of Clay and Tanner. Are there any other supernatural elements?

Clay can control and read minds, but only if he’s making eye-contact. He also can move objects with his mind (telekinesis) and occasionally receives extra-sensory messages. He also can learn the history of objects that he touches, and he can hear ghosts. Tanner can control minds without eye-contact (including groups of people). He sometimes sees into the future (precognition) and is clairvoyant. He can hypnotize people and occasionally experiences retrocognition where he learns information from the past. Their improve and learn of new abilities as the books progress. Both Skeleton Key and Bulletproof have ghosts as main characters, so there is an element of paranormal in the books too.

Wow. If I wasn't already dying to read this book, I would be now. Love how that sounds! What's next for you?

I just finished The Jumper a few weeks ago. I’m working hard at editing it and will soon get the design work done. It is the story of a time-traveling/teleporter (a jumper) who is matched with a teen-aged girl who has gained possession of the Staff of Moses. People want the staff and three angels are manipulating circumstances to rearrange the politics of the Middle East. The jumper protects the girl as she is prepared for the final encounter with the King of Jordan. I think it has a unique presentation of the time traveling genre and it’s got a lot of action and suspense to go along with it.

You do realize you just made my TBR pile grow right? Damn you lol. Well, we are out of time unfortunately. Anything else you want your readers to know?

I already hit on the fact that my books are stand-alone books. I believe that Bulletproof is the best story of the three, but it’s sold the least. I think people feel they have to read the other two before they get to it, but they don’t. Anyone can start with any of the books, and they’ll have a singular reading experience that has an end in each book…and no cliffhangers.

Thank you so much for joining me today on The Lindsay Show!! Lovelies, go check out Jeff's books because they sound damn good!

Bulletproof...Buy it Now!

Interview with Carly Fall!!

Hello my lovelies! Today I welcome a fantabulous author named Carly Fall to The Lindsay Show! If you'll also notice, I've officially changed the name of my blog to The Lindsay Show! Why? Because I'm awesome like that lol. Have you all grabbed your coffee, tea, or beverage of choice?

Interview

Thank you so much for joining me today, Carly! When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

I've actually always been a writer. I did the yearbooks, school papers, and also writing for business. In the past couple of years I've dove into fiction, and I absolutely love it.

That's awesome :) I'm always a bit envious of people who have always known they wanted to be an author! What has been the most difficult part about being a writer?

Finding the time. My husband and I own a business, and that takes up a lot of my time. If I could write all day, everyday, that would be awesome!
I couldn't agree more! I work full time and when I'm at work, all I want to do is write! Who are your favorite authors?
For "big" authors, I love Lee Child and his Jack Reacher series, and I was so disappointed when Tom Cruise was cast as Reacher. Epic Hollywood fail on casting there. I also like Patricia Cornwell.
I've never read the books, but I did see "Jack Reacher" in theaters. My husband told me how the character is supposed to be a massive, imposing guy. I thought Tom Cruise did a decent job, but knowing the character's physical appearance was supposed to be so different, I can totally see why fans of the books were not pleased at the casting choice. What authors inspire you?
I have found my biggest inspirations in the past year or so have been indie authors. There are so many creative and beautiful stories out there! Unfortunately, there is also a lot of crap to wade through as well, but authors like Elise Marion and Taylor Dean are wonderful storytellers.
Again, I couldn't agree more. Indie authors are fantastic <3 Do you like to plan your scenes out or do you just wing it?

I do plan my books, but sometimes my characters have their own ideas. Eventually we all seem to come to an agreement and get to where I want to go.
I've never been a planner but I certainly have experience with characters having their own ideas lol. It can be so much fun to discover where the characters want to lead us. What type of books do you like to read?
I love fantasy/paranormal romance, and also a good "whodunit."
Ooo, that's my genre you know ;) What do you like to do in your free time?

I don't have a lot of free time, but I love spending time with my family, and doing whatever it is we decide to do together, whether that is going to the zoo, hiking, talking the dog for a walk, watching movies, etc.

That sounds absolutely lovely! Where is your favorite place to vacation?

Cabo San Lucas!! I actually have a book coming out through Decadent Publishing for their Honor Guard Series titled Chica Bella based on my experience there. I don't have a release date yet, but hopefully soon!
I've never been there but I've heard it's absolutely amazing! Did you make a New Year’s Resolution? If so, what was it? If not, do you have any goals for 2013?
I did not make any resolutions. My goal is to have eight books published/contracted in 2013.
Wow, I'm in awe of your goal! I hope you're able to reach it!! Why did you choose to write a paranormal/fantasy romance?

I love the freedom that paranormal/fantasy gives me. There really aren't any rules, and anyone can be capable of anything. It allows for everyone to live and love a little harder, and gives permission for the drama to be ratcheted up a bit without seeming over the top because it is fantasy.
That's one of the reasons I adore this genre too. What has been the most fun about working on your books?
There are actually two things, if I may. I love escaping into the world of the Six Saviors. It is a world of alpha males, strong women, drama, and of course, happy endings.

I also love the response from my readers. I love getting emails and Facebook messages from readers who say how much they love the characters in my books, as well as the world I've created.

I'm the same way. It's such an amazing feeling to hear from  your fans, isn't it? What has been the hardest scene for you to write?
I can't think of a scene that has been difficult to write, but more themes. In REBORN I dealt with drug addiction. In the fifth installment of the Six Saviors, which I am currently writing, I have to deal with rape. It isn't easy, but it is necessary for the story.
I can imagine those would be difficult to write because both are such emotional topics/. Do you have any favorite characters?
I currently have four books out in this series. I love all my characters, but I really enjoyed writing Liberty from Destiny's Shift. She starts out as a female born into servitude, and she is docile, quiet, naïve, and can't look anyone in the eye. By the end of the book, she has gone through significant personality and physical changes, all making her a very, very, strong female. As she goes through the changes and learns about life on Earth, it was easy to incorporate some humor, and it was fun to write.

I also enjoyed writing Hudson from REBORN. He's an assassin who cooks and dances, but his is damaged goods due to the loss of his mate. I loved writing about his inner pain he keeps hidden from the rest of the world.

Faith from Finding My Faith was fun to write as well. She is a bit of a loose cannon. She loves to "live" life, regardless of the consequences.

All of your characters sound wonderful. I can't wait until I have a bit of free time and can read your books! Tell us about your hero and heroine.
Jovan is an SR44 Warrior who has developed a gift of getting a glimpse of others emotions through touch. The gift is getting stronger, and he is also able to hear others thoughts now and then. He had no way of controlling it, so he has distanced himself from everyone and everything, preferring to spend his time alone to keep his sanity in check.

Liberty is an SR44 female born into servitude. She is brought to Earth by a set of circumstance far beyond her control, and is innocent in an almost child-like way and having a terribly difficult time figuring out the Earth customs. By chance, she meets Jovan, and he is forced to take her under his wing.

*sigh* You do know I'm now dying to read your book now, right? Tell us about the Six Saviors and SR44 please. Did anything inspire these two organizations?

The Six Saviors Series was born out of a trip to Tucson, Arizona and a tour of a decommissioned missile silo. It was awesome! I thought about how cool it would be to live in one if it was decorated and furnished with really nice stuff. We actually have an acquaintance that has a renovated missile silo for sale on the east coast.

My husband and I had been talking about my next book, and then we were joking around about aliens living in a nice missile silo . . . and the series was born.

I love it! That's so awesome how that came about :) How did you come up with the premise for Destiny’s Shift?
Most of the Saviors have a special "gift" if you will. Jovan's is being able to feel others emotions through touch. After I finished REBORN, it was his turn to tell his story. I needed a female who was a good match for him and I needed to really shake things up in the series, so Liberty made her appearance.
From what I've heard so far, it sounds like they are a great match for each other. Tell us more about the world in Destiny’s Shift?
The Six Saviors were given human bodies and sent to Earth many years ago to eradicate the evil from their planet that had escaped, and turned into many of our worst criminals such as Jack the Ripper. They thought their mission of hunting and eradicating the evil would be easy and quick, but they were wrong. They have been here for over two hundred and fifty years.

They live together in a plush, beautifully decorated decommissioned missile silo. Some of them have taken human mates, others haven't. Each book is about one of the Warriors.

Again, you're just making me want to read your books more and more! I'm going to have to carve out some time to read them soon I think! What can we expect from the Six Saviors series?
As I said, Destiny's Shift really shook up the world of the Six Saviors. New characters and new dangers and problems were introduced. In the future, there will be more drama, more trouble, and some happy endings for some very emotionally destroyed Warriors.
Well lovely, we are nearing the end of our time together which is truly unfortunate because I so want to know more. What's next for you?
For me, I have a contemporary Valentine's Day release coming out on Valentine's Day through Bottom Drawer Publishing titled Time or Money. I am also working on the fifth installment of the Six Saviors Series, as well as a small novella that goes in between REBORN and Destiny's Shift for the series that answers some questions that I couldn't address in either book. I will also have Chica Bella, a contemporary romance for Decadent Publishing's Honor Guard Series coming out hopefully sometime this year.
Wow, you are a busy woman lol! Perfect for your fans though I bet! Anything else you want your readers to know?
Book one of the Six Saviors Series, The Light Within Me, is available for free at major ebook outlets.
Thank you for having me today, Lindsay!

It has truly been a pleasure, Carly. Thank you so much for joining me today and I wish you the best of luck on your releases! I will definitely be snagging your books soon!

Interview

Thank you so much for joining me, Emily, and congrats on your latest release!! What has been the most difficult part about being a writer?

I think the most difficult part is my own self-doubt.

I can definitely relate to that. Going into releasing my book, I doubted myself so much. Even now part of me whispers those niggling little doubts. Who are your favorite authors?
I love a lot of authors. Heinlein is my favorite in the Science Fiction world and someone I grew up reading. I enjoy Nora Roberts and Anne Rice. I have a wide range of favorites, and too many Indie authors I love to read.
Love those authors! And I completely agree about too many indie authors to love :) If I tried to list out all of my favorite indie authors, I'm pretty sure we'd be here all day lol. Do you like to plan your scenes out or do you just wing it?

I just wing it. Sometimes I don’t know where it is going when I start.

I'm the same way! It makes the writing more exciting I think :) What type of books do you like to read?

It really depends on my mood. I am a huge fan of Regency, but it has to hold my attention like Claudy Conn’s does. I will read romance occasionally. I am always down for horror and paranormal fiction. I will give anything a chance.
Ooo never heard of Claudy Conn, I'll have to check her out. What do you like to do in your free time?

I love to read, watch Netflix, and work out. I of course do these things together I watch Netflix on the elliptical or my Kindle fits perfectly in it so I read while I sweat.

Hmm, that sounds like a brilliant combination. I should try that and then maybe I'd actually work out lol. Where is your favorite place to vacation?

Any beach, I love the ocean.
Me too! I used to pretend I was a mermaid who lived in the ocean :) What’s your New Year’s Resolution?

To drink more water, I kept it simple this year.

I think that's a wonderful resolution because it's one that shouldn't be too hard to achieve. Why did you choose to write paranormal?

The possibilities are endless, and I love taking known creatures and putting them in completely different situations or being able to interpret them in a unique way.
I couldn't agree more. Paranormal books open the door to such imaginative things in my opinion. What has been the most fun about working on your books?
Creating my own little worlds, and having the whole story rush at me when I least expect it.

That's one of my favorite aspects too :) What has been the hardest scene for you to write?

Death scenes are always difficult. I want to do the character justice while making the reader feel for them.
A part of me dreads writing my first death scene because I'm pretty sure I'm going to bawling my eyes out. Do you have any favorite characters?

I love all my characters. Julie was fun to write because she is pretty unsure of herself in a new body. She has to be two different people at all times.
Oh that sounds very interesting. I'm intrigued now. How did you come up with the premise for The Reluctant Succubus?
I was in the shower, and the story rushed at me.
That's awesome :) I haven’t seen many books featuring a Succubae protagonist. Why did you choose to have Julie become a Succubus?
I am not sure, but I wanted a different kind of Succubae, not one who dealt with a sexual nature.

I always love when authors bring a new spin to existing folklore. Tell us more about the world of The Reluctant Succubus.
Julie Monroe is in Hell in the first part. She has no clue how she got there or why she died. She is told she can go back but only as a Succubae working to send the Devil souls that have committed terrible sins. The people are dying anyway but she has to be there to filter them to Hell or they will just fly around on Earth.

Asa is her mentor and the demon who is supposed to show her the rope. They pose as a married couple going to college, and she gets a new body. She has to do her job while adjusting to a new body, new afterlife, and trying to remember why she is dead, and what landed her in Hell in the first place.
Now I'm dying to read this book, no pun intended ;) Is this going to be part of a series? If so what can we expect from future books?
The Reluctant Succubus is a series with three novelettes. Each part will leave you hanging of course, as far as other parts of the Fire Rose series I might do a prequel with one of the villains, you never know.
Wonderful!! I can't wait to see more from you :) What's next for you?

With the New Year comes a new challenge. I am going to re-release Zombified under my pen Lyra Mcken which has been rewritten and will be going through a deep edit. I also will be starting a science fiction series that will span out into several novellas which I am very excited about. I also have a Fantasy that I have been plotting so I will be very busy as always.
Wow you will certainly be quite busy! Before you go, is there anything else you want your readers to know?
I have a release out on January 5th called Long Road Full Speed Ahead. It is a darker story with humor mixed in. I want everyone to give it a chance even if it isn’t something you would usually read.

Did you hear that lovelies? New books for you to check out! Go snag your copies!

When Julie Monroe ends up in Hell, she has no clue why she ended up there. The things she knows are that she's dead, she's transparent, and she's been given a second chance, kind of. She has been given the opportunity to return to Earth as a Succubus.

She wants to get out of Hell, but she isn't too keen on sucking souls for the Underworld. To make things even more complicated she has a huge crush on her mentor. He has been in the business of the Succubae for hundreds of years.

Julie is convinced that she can escape. She is convinced that she can run away and hide, but as she discovers different dimensions of Hell on Earth she begins to realize that maybe there isn't a way to escape her fate.

Interview with Reyna Hawk!!!

Good morning lovelies!! Welcome back to the Lindsay Show! Today's edition is super, extra special :) You see, not only do I have the fantabulous Reyna Hawk with me, it's her birthday!!! Everyone wish her a happy birthday :) Mwah hon!

So without further ado, grab your coffee, or in my case vanilla chai tea, and let's get started!

Interview

Happy Birthday Reyna!! I'm so happy you could join me :) When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

When I was in my teens I loved to think up stories to tell my friends or share with family. I really wasn’t sure this was what I wanted to do until I was in my mid 20’s early 30’s. So I began to jot down story lines and scenes. I actually didn’t start the publishing process until this pass year.

That so awesome hon. I'm so glad you decided to start jotting down those ideas! What has been the most difficult part about being a writer?

Self-promotion. Being an Indie author requires me to do it all; writing, editing, proofreading, cover design, publishing, and promoting. I enjoy all of that, except for the promoting. It is hard to get the word out about my work without spending an ungodly amount of money that I don’t have.

OMG I know! Self-promoting is so time consuming and can definitely can add up. Who are your favorite authors?

I have quite a few. I like Stephen King, VC Andrews, Patricia Cornwell, Christine Nolfi, Cameo Renae just to name a few.

Those are all fantastic authors, especially Christine and Cameo ;) What authors inspire you?

Well Stephen King definitely inspires me to write those stories that make you cringe and wonder what in the world is going on. I guess I would have to say that VC Andrews has helped inspire me to put the array of twists into the story lines.

I remember the first time I read one of Stephen Kings' books, I made my sister let me sleep in her room LMAO. He really made me cringe haha. So, do you like to plan your scenes out or do you just wing it?

Well, it’s a planned effort to wing them. I have the tendency to talk them out until something solid comes into form. However, at any given moment I can and will completely change the story and turn it into something it wasn’t before.

Lol I love that, "Planned effort to win them" :) What type of books do you like to read?

Any book that will keep me on the edge of my seat; I love suspense with a little romance thrown in. I also love horror and paranormal.

I adore suspense with a little romance :) It's my second favorite behind paranormal! What do you like to do in your free time?

Relax from all the stress. I love traveling, photography, movies, and just spending time with my family and friends. It can be something as simple as a small get together for a bar bq or just hanging by a bonfire. Anything that is relaxing, I am game!

Oh i love photography too! We must chat about it sometime. Where is your favorite place to vacation?

The mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina; where my mother and father originated from. It is so peaceful there and I seem to always come back feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.

I lived in NC for a few years and it's always been one of my favorite places to vacation! Tennessee is also freaking gorgeous, especially Gatlinburg. We have a lot in common I think :) Do you have any special holiday traditions?

When I was younger it was a tradition to have the same 8 items on the menu for Thanksgiving and Christmas, however now that I am older and spend time with various friends and family during the holiday season this has changed. The one tradition that has been started is every year I like to buy my grand-daughter one special Christmas ornament. On New Year’s Eve I also hold my glass to the heavens and say a special toast to my mother who passed away Jan 1, 2007.

Oh, I absolutely adore the ornament tradition! <3 Why did you choose to write paranormal romantic suspense?

Well, this is not my main genre, but this was a story I felt needed to be told. I wanted to share my experiences with others so they would know they are not alone. Many times people look at the paranormal in a negative light and won’t talk about it for fear of ridicule. I wanted to extend a hand to those fearful or embarrassed of telling their stories.

I think you're very brave for putting yourself out there like that. Many people wouldn't have had the guts to do it.  *hugs* What has been the most fun about working on your books?

Being able to completely create whole new characters and adventures; this is my favorite part. Not knowing what the exact outcome will be or what journey the characters will take until it happens.

I'm finding that's one of my fave things too. Who knows where your characters and story will take you next?! What has been the hardest scene for you to write?

Well, in any of my books there are sex scenes I have to admit I am embarrassed. Anyone who has read my books knows there are not a lot of them, but they are there. However, I do not put them in just for the sake of having a sex scene; it has to add to the content of the story. If it does not then it will be glazed over and not much discussed. I want them to be true to life and not sound like something out of a sappy romance novel. I mean, honestly who talks like that?

I'm always strangely happy when others have struggled with sex scenes! It was the part I dreaded most about writing a romance but because I wanted to enhance the story but was so embarrassed at the same time. Luckily I'm starting to move past it :)  Do you have any favorite characters?

Well naturally the main character because I invest so much time and energy building them. However, there are some side characters that I really enjoy. In the Valentine/Petrilo series my favorite characters are Janie, Rico, and Daniel. Daniel had such a small part, but I loved his mannerism and attentiveness to his sister. In Angels and Arrows my favorite characters are naturally the main characters, because they are based on those people around me.

I feel the same way, love my main characters best :) Angels and Arrows is based on true events. Can you tell us more about that?

Yes, the paranormal events in the book happened to me, the co-author, or a friend or family member close to us. Many of the events surrounding Maria actually happened to me. It is not something I go around talking about because many people do not believe in this sort of thing. I did take the events that had happened over the span of many years and condensed them to occur in a few years. This actually began as somewhat of a biography, but many of the people that were involved did not want their identity revealed, so I fictionalized the locations and names of those the events surrounded. The ending has also been fictionalized because the paranormal events are still occurring and well not to give any spoilers, but I have yet to meet Ash.

I think you're awesome for taking the risk and telling your story. I believe in the paranormal, but so many ridicule it and it definitely takes courage to put yourself out there like that. Tell me more Maria’s abilities.

Again, without giving too much of the story line away; Maria can see and talk to not only ghosts, but also angels. When she becomes angry she can make bad things happen to people, which is revealed in the story why this is so.

Sweetie, I can't tell you how excited and intrigued I am by Maria. Can't wait to sit down and read this book!! Do you plan to continue writing paranormal books?

Yes, I am working on the continuance of Angels and Arrows. As more events unfold and happen, the story line is building. I also have a couple of other books I am working on that deal with the paranormal and other oddities.

Oh yay, that's so awesome!! Always love finding writers of the paranormal :) What's next for you?

Well in the upcoming year I know of at least three new books that I will be publishing. So be on the lookout for those. I have ideas on expanding the Valentine/Petrilo series, and more about Angels and Arrows, plus a couple of stories I have been working on that I am thinking of putting into a book of paranormal short stories.

It sounds like it's going to be a very busy year for you! Well Reyna thank you so much for stopping by on your birthday! I loved having you :) Before you go, is there anything else you want your readers to know?

I want my readers to know how much I truly appreciate all of them. It brings me such joy to be able to share my story telling abilities with others. I am looking forward to many more years of writing and meeting more great people as I have met so far. This has been an exciting journey.

Once again, thank you so much! Well my lovelies, don't forget to check out Reyna's books and be sure to wish her a Happy Birthday!!

Angels and Arrows...Buy it Now!
