Cover Reveal for Dying to Return by Trish M Dawson!!!

The 3rd installment of The Station Series has a cover and it is beautimus!

Thanks must be given to the designer, Deb Rogers, for her time and talent - thank you, friend!!!
So...feel free to sit back and stare for a bit...I am. :D
Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00071]   Dying to Return is the 3rd book in the Young Adult Fantasy The Station Series. Piper Willow's adventure in the afterlife continues as she struggles to discover who she is and what is expected of her. Faced with decisions that could change everything, she must weigh her desire to be with the ones she has come to love, or satisfy her curiosity and find out what lies beyond her world with someone new. What Piper experiences and the choices she makes could not only alter the delicate inner workings of the Station, but the delicate balance that Piper has managed to maintain inside herself. In the end, will it all be worth it?   Excerpt from the book:
A heaviness settles over the table and Andella is no longer giggling. "Why did you do it, Piper Willow?"
"Andella!" her father hisses. He seems embarrassed for her, but she holds my stare across the wide table. I see nothing sinister, just simple curiosity in her eyes.
I reach for my blue-tinted glass and sip at the water. Gulping down air, I try on my best smile and elbow Rush slightly when I feel his gentle prodding at the locked gates my mind.
"I can't answer that. I mean…" I pause, allowing myself to reflect, "I guess I do know why. But I don't know why I thought killing myself was the only option." With a shrug, I sip more water.
Andella reclines slightly in her chair and nods. "Unlike my brother," she shoots Rush a warm smile, "I have not traveled to your world, but I have seen into it. There is much sadness there. Such a loss of potential. I think you are different though. I think on some level, you must have known there was something else beyond your life. Did you not?"
I twirl the fabric napkin on my lap while considering the question carefully. "I think I just wanted that life to be over." I feel the tears building up in my eyes as my voice drops to just above a whisper, "Some people call it Heaven, a better place after life. I didn't care about Heaven or Hell, I just wanted out."
A large hand reaches toward me and I look up through my blurred vision to find Andulen's hand atop mine. Rush is also touching me, and though she's clear across the table, I feel Andella's calming presence as well.
"Child. You cannot fit your life into a square coffer. It will find a way to spill out over the sides and explore that which surrounds it. Even once that coffer is lidded, your life doesn't cease to exist - you carry on. That is what you have done, Piper Willow. That is why you sit here with us this evening, eating and drinking and breathing. Your life - it will always struggle to stay outside that coffer. Do you understand this?"
I nod at Andulen and smile as he squeezes my hand before releasing it. My voice wouldn't work even if I had words appropriate to use, so I sip from my tinted glass again.
"Now. I have serious matters to discuss about this Earth of yours. The first thing, a question I have had on my mind since my Son here breached the subject to me." He pauses with his face set into a hard expression and I gulp. "Can you explain to me what Rugby is?"

Meet Trish M Dawson

Trish was born and mostly raised in San Diego, California where she lives now with her family and pets. She's been writing short stories and poetry since high school after an obsession with Stephen King's 'The Stand'. After over fifteen years of crazy dreams and an overactive imagination, Trish began her first book 'I Hope You Find Me' in December of 2011. When Trish isn't writing, she's homeschooling her amazing daughter and mildly autistic son, reading whatever she can get her hands on, or enjoying the Southern California sun. As a strict Vegetarian, Trish holds a special place in her heart for animal rights and dashes into the backyard weekly to rescue lizards and mice from her mini-lab/cocker spaniel mixed dog, Zoey...who is always getting into some sort of trouble.
Book 2 of The Station Series (Dying To Remember) is due for release on 12/12/12.

“Excuse me, Niles…I mean, Mr. Abbott. But, where are we?”
“I’ll explain everything to you dear, just as soon as we reach the Station.”
“What station? We aren’t in the hospital? Where’s my Dad?”
“No Piper, this isn’t the hospital, and your father is at home…he’s fine. Please, follow me.”
He turns away and continues on through the light. I hang my head, staring at my bare feet as we walk. Even though my cuts are gone, I keep rubbing my arm. It’s soothing. I almost bump into Niles when he stops abruptly.
“We’re here,” he says softly.

Piper Willow dies the summer after her high school graduation but she doesn’t make it to Heaven or Hell…instead she finds herself in a spiritual terminal called the Station. She’s given only two choices: Return to Earth as the subconscious for a person in need of some outside assistance, or move on and spend an eternity lost in her own sorrow and pain.

Does Piper have what it takes to save a life - to be the nagging voice inside someone else’s head - or will she fail and end up lost and tormented in limbo...forever?

I asked Trish what she loved most about autumn and here's what she had to say:

"I could spend all day talking about why Autumn is my favorite time of year, but that might get boring for you. ;) I live in Southern California, and San Diego is warm pretty much most of the year. This means I don't get the beautiful fall color changes that many other parts of the world might. It's the trees that do me in. See, I have a thing for trees. I'm pretty sure I was a bird or a squirrel in a previous life, as trees have been like my second home. I grew up climbing them, lounging with a book on a limb, or hanging upside down to see how long my legs could hold me before my blood filled my head. We have plenty of trees in San Diego, but not too many that CHANGE color in the fall. Which is beyond gorgeous to me. I love the smell of fall, the earthy scent that reminds us that the season is changing. As the leaves fall off the trees, they sink into the moist soil, creating an aroma that freshens up an entire forest. This is probably why hiking in the fall is one of my most loved past-times. So Autumn is all about the trees for me…if there are branches, I will climb it. If there are multi-colored leaves on those branches, even better."

Well lovelies, I hope you enjoyed learning a bit about what myself and my fellow author friends love about autumn! Stay tuned for more exciting posts!!

Song of the Abyss by Lindsay Avalon

Princess Nerissa had envisioned a perfect wedding to a handsome prince. Instead, she fell into a nightmare. When her new husband tries to murder her just hours after pledging his life to her, she must flee towards the sea. Caught in transition from woman to selkie, she is trapped by the dark waters she hoped would be her salvation. Now her destiny becomes that of luring young men to their death…until one comes along that reignites the spark of love inside her. However to ensure her future, she must first face her past. Revenge must be taken…for both her life, and the life of the young man she now loves.

Miss Cavendish and the Spark of Salvation by Tara S Wood

In a city toiling under the iron fist of the Spiegel Syndicate and its monopoly on coal, Miss Georgina "George" Cavendish is on the brink of a breakthrough that could change the world forever. There's just one thing standing in her way, her aunt - Xenobia Cavendish. Threatened by her efforts, the Syndicate procures the services of a notorious assassin with a past tied to her own, known as The Huntsman, to dispatch the brilliant scientist. But once he gets a glimpse of the headstrong beauty, will he be able to do the job, or will Georgina sway him to The Cause? And will George find the breakthrough she needs in time, or is New London Town doomed to forever lie under the dark shadow of her aunt's factories?

Hawke and the Beast  by Trish M Dawson

Some curses last forever, and some can be broken with the whisper of three little words. Isabella Rose Woodward fell in love with a witch's son over a century ago. Her punishment for breaking the young man's heart was a beastly one. Every month she turns into a different creature, aging on the full moon when her curse allows for a brief return to her human form. Her only salvation is to find a man that will love her as she is…be it adorned in feathers, fur or scales. Has she found this love with the handsome Jasper Hawke? Or will a mysteriously determined Hunter find her first, and snuff out the life she so desperately seeks? A life of normalcy, where she loves and is loved in return… just as she is.

This gorgeous rendering (as well as the cover) was designed by none other than the fantabulous Miranda Stork!

Now everybody knows the story of Cinderella right? How she was a hacker? No? Oh, my mistake...guess you'll just have to wait for the anthology to come out ;) In the meantime, here's your snippet!

Her fingers trembled as she tried to fix the wires in place. A tickling bead of sweat rolled slowly down her temple, and she had to grit her teeth to resist wiping it away. Nyx blinked, trying hard to concentrate on the task before her. Her long fingers worked fast, twisting the small steel threads in one go. Heaving a sigh of relief, she pushed them behind the metal plate on the wall, darting a glance around to check she was still alone.
The lights above were off, leaving the passageway in darkness, except for the glowing panels along the walls. They created an eerie blue glimmer, resonating with a soft humming. Nyx swiftly grabbed up her bag, and ran along the corridor, her footsteps echoing. She winced at the sound, pausing for a second. Her breath caught in her throat as she listened for anyone nearby.
Her heart thundered in her chest. The leather suit she had forced herself to wear was far too warm, and it was making her itch in places she didn’t think existed. Rolling her shoulders in an event to make herself more comfortable, she tried to shift it around, to stop it sticking. It didn’t help, and only succeeded in fusing more of it to her awkwardly. Nyx let out an exasperated hiss, blowing a strand of hair from her forehead. Her footsteps clattered as she raced along the passage, darting into a dark corner, where she could just see the glint of a steel casing.
Placing her bag down, she rummaged around for one of her tools, the slender objects jostling together. She pulled out a long, tapered one, and began to pry at the edges of the casing. Gritting her teeth, she pushed hard on it, until the edges became loose. Nyx paused for a second, her wrist aching, and then began to push on it again. The casing creaked and refused to give way, until it suddenly fell off with a loud crashing sound, bouncing on the hard floor.
Nyx held her breath, listening intently again. She inwardly cursed herself for being so careless, and snatched the plate up, leaning it carefully against the wall. She felt in the bag for a small wiry tool, which was resonating at one bulbous end. Holding it tightly, Nyx pressed the end against a section of coloured wires in the recess left by the metal plate. It began to burn brighter, and tiny sparks danced away from it as it touched the wires. The glow became heated, and the wires snapped, melted by the molten heat. Throwing the tool back into her bag, Nyx reached into her pocket and snatched out a small device, with more wires hanging from one end.
The object was no more than four or five inches in length, and flat. Grabbing the other wires, Nyx began to twist them onto the object, repeating her task from a minute or two ago. Her fingers moved fast as she clicked it into place, and slid the metal plate back over the recess again.
This was a difficult job. Nyx was a ‘Runner’; a computer hacker for the United Group for the Liberation of Individuals, otherwise known as U.G.L.I. The group was made up mainly of women, thanks to the first brainwashing of the citizens claiming most of the men. The women referred to one another as ‘sisters’, now made sisters through pain if not blood.
The Governor was in charge of the whole city. Two-hundred and fifty-three years ago, in 2024, there had been a great war. It had nearly wiped out mankind, and it had taken another seventy years before humanity picked itself off the floor and dusted itself down. Small towns began to pop up, and some grew into cities. No-one was connected though. Only the Governors of each city or town met to discuss business with one another; trade for each place. Citizens were forbidden from leaving the towns or cities, and being found outside of them was punishable by death. Luckily for Nyx, she had never been found yet.
Looking up, she grabbed the bag again, and scampered along the floor, racing into another dark corner. She was about to reach into her pack once more, when she heard a sound. The blood froze in her veins as she realised she could hear heavy footsteps marching straight towards her. The darkened space suddenly didn’t seem big enough to hold her.
An echo danced off the walls and mocked her, the steady rhythm of the steps getting closer and closer. Breath held in her throat, Nyx silently let go of the bag, and slid her hand inside her boot, drawing out an ebony knife. Her emerald eyes opened wide with anticipation as she readied herself, dabbing her tongue out at her dry lips. Blood pounded in her ears, a steady rhythm to the heated rush of adrenaline pumping through her veins, and she tightened her grip on the knife.
The footsteps were suddenly only a few feet away from her hiding space. Nyx pressed herself as close to the wall behind as she could, trying to dissolve into the shadows. She could hear heavy breathing, but didn’t dare take a look around the corner. There was a clunking sound, as though the panel had been pulled away again. Muttering came from behind the wall, and then a soft clicking sound, like a gun being cocked.
Nyx closed her eyes tightly, and counted to three under her breath, swallowing hard.
Her body moved like lightening. Nyx jumped out from behind the corner, landing heavily on the body of the guard. His visor went flying off, revealing two shocked brown eyes. It only took a second for his reflexes to kick in, throwing her off, and reaching for his gun. Nyx jumped away, righting herself gracefully as she landed. Moving fast, she swung her leg out at the gun, kicking it behind her. As she moved, she veered her arm around, slicing the knife across his neck as he stood up. He hissed in agony, and grabbed at the open cut. It wasn’t a deep slice, but enough to bleed. The guard staggered forwards, reaching out for Nyx with flailing arms. Breathing heavily, she slowly stepped back, watching as he stumbled to the floor, trying desperately to reach for the communicator hanging from his belt. Her eyes stared nervously as he clasped it...and then fell flat out on the tiled floor.

So I bet you think you know the story of Beauty and the Beast, am I right? Well, you don't know this version :) This time around, our heroine is the one who transforms! And instead of changing into a single form, Isabella transforms into a different animal each month! Bet you can't wait to get your hands on this to find out how it plays out :) Don't forget to go back to the Alpha Heroes blog hop and read Jasper's snippet. It is HOT!

She was out of her loose pajama bottoms before the two of them reached the bedroom door frame. Something fell with a crash to the floor as they bumped against the wall, arms wrapped greedily around each other, mouths tasting, fingers desperately exploring.
A deep sigh, very close to a growl, came from Isabella's lips as she tasted the sweet coffee on Jasper's agile tongue. She crushed her mouth to his so hard that she could feel the blood coursing below his taught skin. It was a steady whoosh-whoosh beat that rivaled her own, and it only turned her on further. With a rough tug, she freed him from his shirt, letting the warmed fabric fall to the carpet. It was just as she thought; every muscle of his slightly tanned upper body was tightly formed from chest to navel…conclave upon conclave rippled downward into a perfect V shape just above the top of his pants. With one finger, she ran a slow and seductive trail in a zig-zag pattern along the fine hairs between his nipples, slowly lowering her hand until her finger met the rough denim of his jeans. Using just her thumb and forefinger, she slipped the button loose.
Jasper groaned as she probed with first one, then two fingers into his boxer-briefs, lifting the waistband away from his skin as her hand slid deeper toward the ample bulge that strained at the tight fabric for release.
Suddenly, Jasper pulled his mouth from hers, and gently grasped her roaming hand, holding it tightly in his own against his abdomen. He took a shaky breath before speaking, "Wait…wait. I-I don't want you to do anything you don’t want to…" his voice wavered with lusty emotion.
The harlequin-green of Isabella's eyes flashed like spring and he saw not only youth in them, but hope. After a subtle push to his chest, Isabella slid against the wall, away from Jasper, until at least two feet were between them. The bedroom was at her back, so he could see the bed just behind her…almost beckoning, taunting him.
"Jasper," she said huskily, "I wouldn't be here if I didn't want you."

*fans face* Ok who needs some water? Or a sexy man? I'll take the latter ;)

Stop back tomorrow to meet another heroine! Now for the giveaway...

The sudden bank of the airship threw her off her feet and George stumbled into the room as she was shoved from behind. The door was slammed shut behind her and she looked up to see the cold beauty of Xenobia Cavendish’s face.

“You have gotten yourself into quite a pickle, my niece.” She stood from her cushion-lined window seat with a smile and turned to the starboard side wall which was lined with mirrors. Xenobia preened in the expanse of glass, fluffing her hair and observing George from the corner of her eye. George looked back toward the door with a frown. “Don’t worry about them,” Xenobia said, facing her. “They won’t be bothering us. They’ll be taking your little device to the workshop. It will be safely delivered to the Syndicate’s headquarters for further review.”

“It doesn’t work,” George shot back with a lift of her chin. “It’s useless.”

Xenobia’s raven hair shook around her face. “No matter. It will. Or it won’t. Either way, it’s in my possession and that is all that really matters. What I decide to do or not do with it is none of your concern now.” Her eyes narrowed. “You should have brought it to me in the first place. We are family, George.” Her lovely head tilted in thought. “That means something.”

George snorted. “Family? We’re not family. You don’t care about anyone but yourself.”

Xenobia’s hands shifted to her waist and for the first time, George saw the thin scabbard at her side. A rapier. She’d forgotten Xenobia fenced.

“Darling, don’t be trite. You are a Cavendish, like your father.”

“And look where that got him. Dead in an alley. Killed by his own sister.” George’s face was hard. Anger began to build beneath her skin, slowing her blood to a crawl. The sly smile on Xenobia’s face told her she was right. Xenobia had indeed had her father killed. She had no intention of letting her leave this airship alive. With or without the machine. The realization pricked at the back of her mind.

Xenobia laughed, a low, rich sound full of smug satisfaction. “It was unfortunate, but necessary. With him gone, I have been able to grow the Syndicate’s holdings, and with it, amass a great deal of power. Everything has fallen to me. Where it belongs.”

“And what about me?” George countered. “The right of inheritance is clear. If you die, the Syndicate is mine. And the power to break it.”

Xenobia scoffed, “Foolish girl. You should know that if you want it, you’ll have to kill me.”

George’s lip curled in a dark sneer as a steely resolve anchored her limbs. “So be it.”

Now can you guess what fairy tale I chose? Pretty obvious I drew some inspiration from The Little Mermaid, but this is nothing like any story you've ever read. Nerissa is a selkie caught in transformation, a siren who lures men to their doom seeking revenge against the man who tried to murder her on her wedding day. Don't worry though, she's not bad, but she is a bit wicked :)

Without warning, his mouth closed over hers. Hot, hungry, demanding. He gave her no room to escape, drove all thought from her brain as his tongue swept into her mouth. Despite the penetrating chill of the water, unexpected heat flashed through her body, eliciting a low moan from her. Unable to restrain herself, she pressed closer now fighting him for control of the kiss.
At some point his hands had gentled their grip on her arms and one slid up into her head. His fingers speared through her hair, angling her head back to take the kiss even deeper. Lyulf pinned her into place, locking her against a body lean and hardened. More, she had to have more. Her hands rose to grasp his head, still fighting the losing battle for dominance. She trailed her nails lightly down his chest, coaxing a light shiver from him.
Wait, what the hell was she doing? Rational thought slammed her back into the present moment and she wrenched free from his grasp. She struggled for her composure. "You, you had no right to do that." Was that husky, breathless voice truly her own?
A slow smile spread across his lips. "Really now? You didn't seem to mind it just a second ago."
She started to stammer a denial but caught it before she made even more of a fool of herself. "It's not going to happen again."

Have you been enjoying your alpha males? I hope so because we're not done yet! Next up is Jasper from Hawke and the Beast and you may want to keep a fan nearby, because the following is sure to heat you up :)

"Damn, you're so beautiful," he groaned.

Smiling, she slowly, teasingly, rocked her hips against his, keeping her palms flat on his chest. As Jasper's fingers roamed the front of her glistening body, she reached down between them and cupped his eager erection in one hand, rubbing the dewy tip with her thumb until Jasper jerked inside her tight grasp. Just before he came, she released him and ignored his guttural cry of protest. Running her tongue up his torso, she bit each of his nipples until he called out her name.

With her nails dug deep enough into the flesh of his hips to leave bruises, she opened her legs and slowly lowered herself onto him, moaning at the feel of his hard body inside hers as she met his thrusts with equal need. The inner wildness that had grown to be a part of her over the last hundred years ached to get out, so she released it willingly. With a toss of her hair, she flipped the strands through the air like a whip and wailed with each thrust from Jasper's narrow hips, riding him like a wild bull. Her back was arched at such an angle that her breasts faced the ceiling, exposing the indents of her ribcage, the protector of her heart.

In full control, using the electric energy from the brutal night storm, she rocked against him, grinding her hip bones into his. When Jasper's hand wandered up her throat she grabbed it and grazed her teeth along his finger, biting down until he gasped. An orgasm ripped through her when his thumb was in her mouth and yet it did little to muffle her scream of ecstasy.

Only the occasional flash of lightning lit the room as he pushed off the bed, still holding her tightly against him. Toe-curling spasms continued to course through her insides, and she gasped as he pushed her hard against the wall. With her heels hooked around his waist, he slammed into her again, and again, and again until the piercing of her nails into his ass brought on his own eruption.

"Jesus…" he stammered, breathing heavily into her ear.

Jasper's mind was clouded with the usual euphoric after-sex feel, but he was still able to process one lucid and very real thought, I won't ever make love to another woman again. For him, this girl was…different.

"Mmm," was all she could manage before they slumped into a heap on the ground together, a tangled mess of legs and arms and sweaty hair.

Mmm is right! Left you wanting more didn't it? Well there's one more day and one more hero but in the meantime, I'll leave you to your fantasies of Jasper :)
