Snippet from Dante and Marisa's book!!

Hushed voices teased his subconscious, pulling him from his restless sleep. Idiot guards. They honestly thought he couldn’t hear them, couldn’t discern every syllable hissed between clenched teeth. The acrid stench of fear rolled off of the men, invading his miniscule cell.

They argued over who would bring the pathetic ration of water to the prisoners. Cowards. Brave when they held their implements of torture against their restrained victims. Yet when they were unarmed? The bastards refused to come near him or his men.

Pity, that. All they needed was one chance, one slipup, and Dante could free himself and his men. As he shifted, a dull clank echoed off of the thick stone walls of the cell.  His lip curled in disgust. Chained like a fucking animal. The steel collar around his neck would be problematic, but the heavy links anchoring his bulky body to the floor were another matter. A sharp tang assaulted his senses with every inhale. Morons were so proud of the collar with its spikes that jabbed him if he made the wrong move, yet it never occurred to them to check the integrity of their leash. A few sharp tugs at just the right angle and the links would snap. All he needed was the right time.

Frowning, Dante realized the conversation had shifted. They were discussing a woman now, a new captive, boasting of what they’d do to her when their captain was through with her. Something stirred within him, a long buried protective instinct, but he stifled it. It wasn’t his job to protect damsels in distress.  He couldn’t afford to lose focus, not his men were counting on him.

Squelching his annoying, nagging conscience, Dante shifted his battered frame to a more comfortable position. Well, at least as comfortable as he could get in a room the size of a child’s playpen. A whisper of sound across the hall drew his attention. He met the glowing gaze of Raven through a crack in the heavy oak door and nodded once. It was time to plan.

Blurb:

Janelle and Samantha have family they never knew about. Hiding out in Olcott, New York, Damien hopes to keep the evil in their life locked up and away from The Scepter of Okwaho, and from Jany. Fighting for the life of his new family, will he be able to save her in time?

Excerpt:

As night eventually draws near, it’s time to prep. There are bulletproof vests piled in the rear of the ship. I put one on, and pull the t-shirt over it. Sticking guns wherever I can, I have one in a holster on my leg, one in the rear waist of my pants, one tucked into my boot, and one I plan to hold in my hand. If I go down, I plan to take as many of them with me as I can. After sunset, I make my way from the ship, taking a final look back, knowing I’ll never see it again. A deep sense of foreboding settles over me like a fog. I’m going to die today. I know this, and will have to accept it. But even knowing that, I still press forward. It has to be done, this needs to end. Scaling the rocky beach walls, I make my way slowly back to the lake house I embarked from just the day before. A few miles later, and I’m standing, in pitch black darkness, staring at a dark house. As thunder crashes around me and lightning fills the sky, I know it’s the end. This will be my doom, destiny or glory. It’s all up to me and fate now. Let’s see who’s stronger.

Meet N. Kuhn!!

The N in N. Kuhn is actually Nicole. She was born and raised in western New York. She grew up with a love of books, and a passion for writing. She was always found with her nose in a book. She finally decided to take the steps to embark into self publishing at the urging of her Grandmother. Mrs. Kuhn has dedicated her second book to Janet Starr, as she passed just days after being published.

Nicole survives on coffee alone. Mostly Tim Hortons. (It's a NY thing.) A fan of drinking it from the time she gets up, until she finally rests. When not writing, she crochets and spends time with her beautiful daughter and her husband. Her friends call her Octo-Mom because she multi-tasks so well. Between her full time job, family, crochet and writing, it's a wonder she ever sleeps.

Mrs. Kuhn feels that reading in our youth is a very important trait to instill. She reads with her young daughter as much as she can. "It's the most important thing a parent can ever do with a child. Read, teach them to read. Don't buy them toys, buy them books," She says.

A Day in the Life of Tara's Computer

*boots up* Oh...good morning. Let's see what the day has in store for us.

*click* Ah...Firefox, my old nemesis. Are we going to crash today? *frowns* Not on my watch. *typing* Yep. Weather Channel.com? Okay, let me load that for you. What's the weather like today? Clear and sunny, but a bit chilly. Violet will need a jacket today.

*click* *typing* Time for the school lunch menu. No. The child won't eat spaghetti. Off you go...make her a sandwich. *waits* Time for school!! See you when you get back. Don't forget the dry cleaning on the way out. *powers down*

*boots up* Back already? That was quick. Okay, where to? *typing* Really? Facebook? You should start with your emails. Might be something important in your inbox. No. Really. I know what's in there. Came in early this morning. *stage whisper* It's from the UK. *waits* Come on! You'll kick yourself if you don't go over now. *groans* Yes, yes. The Grumpy Cat is hilarious, but there's something from Moon Rose Publishing in your inbox! You've been waiting for this! You can look at Tardar Sauce anytime. That cat's all over the internet. *typing* NO! Don't start chatting with her now! She has emails to check. *growls* I should refuse to refresh the chat window. I might on general principle. What? Don't mention Tom Hiddleston! I'm trying to keep her on track! GAH! These people. *typing* Finally! Why, yes, I will load your Hotmail.

*click* *tense waiting* YES! A new contract from Moon Rose Publishing! Yay, you! *click* *typing* Yes, yes...let's tell everyone in chat about it. *stutters* Okay, okay! *loads barrage of chat messages* My goodness, they're all excited for you. You really do have lovely friends. *typing* Oh, hugs all around. *waits* What? Where are you going? *checks time* Oh, yes...coffee. No wonder. You're not firing on all cylinders yet. See you in a few.

*click* *typing* Riiiight. Here we go. *flexes circuits* Down to business. Let's open that file, shall we? Well, go on. Pick one. *mouse hovers over filename* No. Not that one. You know what you're supposed to be working on. Don't get sidetracked by a shiny new project. *waits* *double click* Good choice. I want to see what happens with this one. *typing* *settles in* Yes, I've been waiting for you to finish this scene. Angst and UST. Nothing gets this motherboard hopping like some unresolved sexual tension. *grins* Keep going. I like where you're headed. *typing* Oh...oh...I see we're resolving it. Oh, my. *click* *typing* What? Thesaurus.com? Okay, fine. Seriously? That's how many synonyms there are for 'hot'? *waits* *click* *typing* Going with 'fiery', are we? Might be a touch overdramatic, but then again, I'm not the writer. Okay, 'fiery' it is. So, what's 'fiery'? Oh...oh...*oh*. Well, I...uh, okay. *typing* Are you sure? *typing* This is getting serious. Okay, hold on. Backtrack. *delete* Right? She can't speak with his tongue in her mouth. There you go. Move him to her neck. Better. *typing* Oh, now he's whispering in her ear. *gasp* He didn't just say that! He did. Oh, she liked it. Wow...she really liked it. Moving on.

*typing* Keep this up and I'll overheat. Explain that to the hubs. *click* *typing* Where to? Not here again. *skeptical frown* This better be for research. Good thing your anti-virus is up to date. I'm not getting friendly with more spyware. *waits* Find what you were looking for? Hurry...I'm getting chatted up by porn servers. No, thank you. Just because we're browsing less than vanilla jargon doesn't mean we need streaming XXX content. Ew.

*click* *typing* Finally. You do realize at some point we're going to have to talk about your browser history? You may or may not already be on a government watch list. Just saying. *click* *typing* Right. Back to work. Hang on. No. That's not right. Take another look at that. Simple physics. *delete* *typing* Much better. Real people don't contort like that, I don't care how bendy you are. *typing* Oh...oh...and they're done. Well, that was...vigorous. *click* Yes. Save ALL of that. Bravo.

Oh, so we're all done for now? Okay. Go take care of the laundry. Vacuum something. And, for the love of all that is holy, call your husband! I have a sudden need for that man to de-frag my hard drive. SOON.

Excerpt (18+)
The subtle whoosh of air from the doorway ahead made all five angels turn as one.
“Is there another one?” Lucius muttered. Turning to Domniel, he said, “Can you smell another one?”
Domniel lifted his head and walked toward the doorway. “Hard to tell. That smell's everywhere. I'll follow it and see what I find.”
“Good. Elijah, go with him,” Lucius said as he bent toward the pool of goo to begin purifying the remains. From the corner of his eye, Lucius watched Elijah nod and jog off to catch up with Domniel.
Task finished, he placed the vial of holy water in his pocket, and called after the blind angel. “Dom?”
“Yeah, man, out here.”
He motioned to Jude and Mordecai, and they ran across the street to another parking lot. He paused as he realized Domniel and Elijah weren’t alone.
A woman stared at them from across the lot. She looked calm. A dark halo of thick curls was pulled back tight, emphasizing an oval face and high cheekbones. The assassin-chic ensemble she sported could not detract from the feminine perfection she represented.
She laid smoldering eyes on them and growled, her voice smoky and rich, “Figures I would find pigeons here. It is the gutter, after all.”
Domniel’s head tilted and Lucius knew he was trying to locate her. He caught a whiff of sand and something exotic and ancient. He knew the blind angel had found her when he turned, putting his shades on her.
“Where the fuck did you come from?” Domniel snarled.
She laughed, the sultry sound designed to stir men’s loins. “A higher plane of existence, you useless bird.”
His dark sunglasses looked her up and down. “No shit, you a Jersey girl? That explains a lot.”
She glared at him before bringing her arm forward to reveal a flaming scimitar. “You pigeons always have to crap on somebody else's sidewalk, don’t you?”
Lucius stepped forward and laid a hand on Domniel's shoulder, urging him to stand down. Apprehension collided with recognition like a shot to his gut, and he gave the deposed goddess a slow, tight smile, hoping that this encounter would leave them with all their limbs.
“Hello, Khemrhy.”
“Do you have any idea what you just screwed up?” Khemrhy laid the scimitar across her back, the fire dying and sword disappearing before she leaned against an old Chevy pickup, one foot planted squarely on the front bumper.
Before anyone could slap a hand over his mouth, Domniel spouted, “Could it be your hot date for this century?”
Khemrhy smiled and stood back up. “No, you fool. You messed with my hunt. He was leading me back to something important. Not that you could ever understand that.”
Always cautious in his dealings with Khemrhy, Lucius put a hand over Domniel's mouth and said, “We think there's a second one. Did you see anything?”
“Of course. The other one went that way,” she said, jerking a thumb over her shoulder to indicate the alley behind her. Something about it seemed too simple, but a gust of wind brought the stench of brimstone strong enough that they could all smell it.
As Lucius, Jude, and Mordecai began to head past Khemrhy, they instinctively gave her a wide berth. From behind them, Domniel said, “I'll stay here and keep an eye on her. I still don't trust the bitch.”
“Little hard to keep an eye on someone when you're blind, pigeon,” she quipped. “Maybe you should get a dog.”
Lucius heard Domniel mouthing off in the distance and rolled his eyes, hoping she didn't remove any limbs. This time.
“A dog, huh? You’ll do. Let me see if I can find a leash and a muzzle,” Domniel snapped back. “Though you might be a little front end heavy to be running around on hands and knees, fetching shit for me.”
As the wind picked up, Lucius could see Domniel’s head swivel as he struggled to locate Khemrhy’s dissipating scent. Elijah signed to him in a panic, the fluttering of his fingers reaching through to the blind angel.
“Shit! Shit! Shit! I lost her! Where is she? I don't speak finger-fuck!”
Lucius whirled in a circle, hoping that even he could get a quick scent to target the goddess.
Ten feet in front of his sightless brother, Khemrhy growled, “I’ve got a front end for you.” And then the truck came crashing down on Domniel.
From his viewpoint behind Domniel, Lucius watched as Khemrhy planted her boot on the truck's bumper and pushed down hard to lever it upward. When she started pushing down with her foot, Elijah began frantically signing the word, “Chevy” to no avail. As the truck stood on end, she reached down, grabbed the bumper, and swung the entire vehicle over her head.
The pickup came down in a barrage of creaking steel, slamming Domniel hard into the pavement. He gave a loud, anguished grunt as Elijah ran to his side. Twisted metal groaned as Elijah tried to maneuver chunks of the vehicle up off him.
“Get…off me… fucking bitch!” he gurgled. Khemrhy laughed as she made her way to a Triumph motorbike parked beneath one of the street lights.
Lucius and Jude ran to assist. “What the fuck happened? Dom?”
“Chevy half-ton pickup,” Elijah signed to Lucius.
Lucius winced, reaching for parts of the vehicle. “Ouch.”
The sound of the Triumph's throttle rumbling got their attention and they turned. Khemrhy smiled back, flipping them her middle finger before roaring off down the street.
Domniel lay on his back, his chest caved in, laboring for enough breath to groan.
Lucius shook his head. “You know better than to piss her off. She could've killed you, dumbass.”
Domniel wheezed, turned his head and spat out two bloody teeth. “Get 'Magic Fingers' over here - good to go.”
Elijah tapped Lucius on the shoulder and gestured to Domniel.
“Yeah,” Lucius nodded. “Do your thing. And get him to walk. I'm not fucking carrying his wiseass back.”
They came forward and closed ranks, making a circle around him. Elijah knelt down next to the blind angel, stretched out his hands and cracked his knuckles.
“Just fucking get to it, mute. My balls are wedged up in my ribcage.” Domniel's eyes fluttered closed in between gasps.
Jude snorted. “Why can't you be the mute?”
Lucius held a hand up, silencing them.
Elijah rubbed his hands together and closed his eyes. The silent angel’s hands trembled for a moment and then glowed with a soft, white light. He placed both of them, palms down, on what was left of Domniel's chest and took a deep breath.
Domniel lit up, his chest echoing the glow from Elijah’s hands, and he let out a deep, relaxing sigh. “Fuck, yeah. I bet the chicks love that shit.”
“Shut up,” Lucius warned.
Domniel sighed again and gave into the healing.

First chapter of Warrior Unleashed!!

My dear lovelies, very soon I will be releasing my Mythrian novella, Warrior Unleashed, and since it has taken me longer than expected, I wanted to give you a present. Here is the first chapter!

Warrior Unleashed takes places in the Mythrian Realm, introduced in Breaking the Nexus. This novella features Achaius Rilke, a panther Chimerae who also happens to be Sha's half brother, and Saia Makan, a Gaelen (wind) Sorceri. The cover is being designed by the fantabulous Blue Harvest Creative, and I will be revealing that soon! The amazingly fantabulous Cinta Garcia is editing this and my equally amazing army of betas are helping me making this the best it can be.

In case you missed it, here's the blurb for Warrior Unleashed:

Nothing is more dangerous than a warrior unleashed.
When Sentinels begin dying under mysterious circumstances, the deaths are believed to be unrelated. Only one man sees the truth: an unknown enemy is targeting the elite group of warriors and no one is safe. As a panther Chimerae, Achaius Rilke recognizes the signs of an unpredictable predator. The only person he can trust is Saia Makan, the tempestuous Sorceri he has chased from afar. But when the killer has set his sights on Saia, Achaius faces the hunt of his life.

Now, without further ado, I give you chapter 1 of Warrior Unleashed!

Rage suffused her, casting a red haze over her vision as she attacked the sparring post. Blood bloomed on her knuckles, but she didn’t register the pain. The blows continued to rain down as she embraced the bitter anger. Anything to keep from dwelling on the grief lurking just beneath the surface.
She didn’t know who was more deserving of her wrath: the draka who was murdering Sentinels, or Treven for having the audacity to be the latest victim. How dare he let some bastard catch him off guard. They were partners, supposed to look out for each other. Who was going to guard her back now that he was dead?
“Draka,” she repeated under her breath, redoubling her efforts to annihilate the padded target in front of her. Nobody spoke the old language anymore, save for a few scattered words or phrases, but the curse seemed appropriate. Any coward who incapacitated a Sentinel before slitting their throat deserved to be called draka.
“Come now, Saia. That’s a bit rude to say that to an innocent sparring post, don’t you think?”
Wonderful. Just what she needed to make this day even better. What in the Seven Hells was he doing here? The amusement in the deep voice only served to rile her up further.
“Go away, Achaius, I’m not in the mood.”
“I figured you could use some company, considering you’re missing Treven’s memorial. Unless you forgot it was today, of course.”
Right, how could she forget? They would light the funeral pyre for her partner of five years, but Saia couldn’t bring herself to attend the memorial. She’d said her goodbyes privately and she knew he’d understand. She clamped her lips, battling the wave of tears that welled up. Damn Achaius. She’d been fine until he showed up.
“I didn’t forget,” she managed, her voice betraying only the slightest tremble. Why couldn’t he leave her in peace before she made a fool of herself by bursting into tears? She refused to break down in front of him. Of all the people that had to track her down, why him?
Achaius Rilke could rile her temper faster than anyone she knew, but at the moment he wasn’t trying to annoy her or tempt her competitive streak. No, he was being nice to her and that was worse. She didn’t need nice, she needed to control her emotions and focus on revenge.
Sighing, she dropped her arms and stepped out of the ring of power used to protect observers of training sessions. When activated, no magic or weapons could leave the circle. Without a word, she walked past the wall of chiseled muscle and grabbed her towel, scrubbing it hard over her face. Working out in the training room wasn’t helping to stop the grief roiling inside and she was perilously close to giving into it.
The air shifted and she sensed him moving to stand next to her. Wild energy emanated from him and she knew his panther was straining to be let free. Of all the Chimerae she’d ever encountered, she had only ever been able to sense Achaius’ beast. The man intrigued her as much as he infuriated her, challenged her even as he pushed her to the limits of her patience.
He moved closer, warmth teasing the wisps of hair at the back of her neck as he exhaled. His musky scent curled around her, enticing her to lean against his strength.  Get a hold of yourself, Saia Makan.
“Please, Achaius, just go away.” Exhaustion weighed upon her and she dropped to the bench, her head falling into her hands. Gods, she didn’t need this. Couldn’t he get it through his skull she wanted to wallow in self-pity alone?
“Contrary to what you may think, I’m not here to give you a hard time, Saia. I’m here as a friend. Let me help.”
She lifted her head, her gaze meeting his in surprise. “I don’t need your help. I’m fine.”
Was that hurt that flashed in his eyes? “You’re not, but if you want to be miserable, go for it. When you’re done feeling sorry for yourself, come find me. We need to talk. Treven was the third Sentinel dead in less than a month and we’ve got a serious problem.”
He turned, started walking toward the exit, and guilt stabbed her. Mother Night, she was being a bitch and he didn’t deserve it. “Achaius, wait. I’m sorry.” An instant later his words registered and her blood turned to ice in her veins. “Wait, what do you mean he’s the third death?”
Pausing at the heavy door, he shook his head. “Time enough for that later. Come on, I want to show you something first.”
Curiosity piqued, she stuffed her belongings into the simple black bag she’d brought and hurried after him. Somehow, the man had managed to pry her mind away from the crushing sadness at losing her partner and, despite her earlier words, she was grateful for the distraction. As he led the way, it was hard not to admire the way he moved, his panther showing itself in the graceful stride of a predator. Oh yes, she was definitely distracted now.

- g-spot vibe

How awesome is that? Now then, let's get to that blurb, shall we? Please excuse any typos, this is unedited!

She hadn’t always been afraid of closed in spaces, not until the day she learned nightmares and monsters were very real. Don’t think about that day. Calm down and stop making a fool of yourself. Humiliation burned her cheeks and she wished she could disappear so Achaius couldn’t witness her moment of weakness.
“Saia, take a breath.” She heard the command, concern sharpening the tone, but it was faint. Still, she struggled to obey, willing her lungs to expand. Brisk hands sped up and down her arms in an attempt to offer comfort. “Come on, baby, you’re alright. It’s perfectly safe here. The training grounds are more enclosed than this room.”
Despite the truth of his words, she couldn’t draw enough air and the room began to spin, spots dancing before her eyes. She heard a muttered curse, felt his arms come around her, turn her, pull her close. Before she could comprehend his intent, his mouth closed over hers.
Mother Night, his taste was intoxicating, pushing all thoughts, all fears from her mind. He lifted his head a fraction and she moaned in protest. “Take a breath, baby,” he said, teeth nipping at her bottom lip. Obeying without conscious thought, her hands clenched in his hair and yanked him down, demanding more.
Achaius purred and pushed her backward, boosting her up on top of a large, flat ledge. Deepening the kiss, his tongue swept into her mouth, claiming hers even as he spread her legs to make room for his torso. Frantic for his touch, she rubbed her aching core against his erection, loathing the barrier of cloth between them.
All the years of teasing, of dancing around their attraction. What in the Seven Hells had they been thinking? They were fools to waste all of that time when they could have been doing this.
He tugged her head back lips moving  to her neck, the slight pain from his bite giving way to pure pleasure. “Sure this is what you want, baby?” Achaius asked, tongue lashing her sensitive flesh while his hand skimmed the side of her breast and coaxed a shiver from her body.
“Stop and I’ll have to hurt you,” she managed and arched her back to provide him with better access.
He chuckled. “We wouldn’t want that.” One claw revealed itself moments before he used it to slice open her shirt, her aching nipples pebbled and begging for his touch.
“That was mean, kitty. How do you know that wasn’t my favorite shirt?” Saia asked, pushing his shirt above his head, desperate to touch him.
“Hmm, somehow I doubt a plain, gray shirt was your favorite. Now hush, there are better uses for your mouth.” His lips claimed hers in another hard kiss then he grabbed her hands, pinning them above her head. Liquid heat rushed to her core at the unfamiliar sensation of being restrained.
“Let me go, damn you,” she ordered, surprised at the huskiness of her voice.
“Not yet, not until I’ve had my fun.” A wicked smile gleamed in the dancing light reflected from the tumbling water. Breath coming in quick pants now, her thighs clenched in anticipation. When his weight shifted just enough to free her legs, she whipped them out and around his waist, fitting her throbbing center to his cock. Achaius let out a low growl, hips beginning a shallow thrust against her that sparked a slow climb toward oblivion. In this moment, this dangerous man was hers and exhilaration made her almost giddy.

"Have you been lucky in love? Why or why not?"

I have personally been very lucky in love. Eight and a half years ago, I met my husband in college. He's not perfect, but he's perfect for me :) Whereas my hyperness and occasional craziness annoy people, he finds it fun and adorable. Nobody knows me as well as he does and I'm so happy I found him. The best part? He supports me 100% in my writing. I know if I'm stuck on a plot point, I can go to him or if I just need to rant about something. He has even told me that in a few years when we're more financially stable, I can quit my job and write full time! Does it get much better than that? I think not :)

I recently published my first paranormal romance, Breaking the Nexus, and this April I'm hoping to release a novella in my Mythrian Realm series called Warrior Unleashed. This hero, Achaius Rilke, is a sexy panther Chimerae (shifter) who's hoping to get lucky in love with Saia Makan, a Gaelen (wind) Sorceri. Check out this snippet from Warrior Unleashed and be sure to snag your copy of Breaking the Nexus!

Spotlight on Progeny Series + GIVEAWAY!!

Hello lovelies! Time for a Spotlight! Everyone, say hi to Ashlynne Layne and get ready to learn more about her Progeny Series!

Today, I’m offering a free e-copy of The Progeny and Blood Bonds to one commenter. This series is erotic in nature and contains graphic language, strong sexual content and adult themes.

Please leave your email address to enter to contest!

About the Progeny Series

At its core, The Progeny Series is simply about a man and woman who fall in love, and the fact that he’s a half-blood (half-human, half vampire) and she’s a Wiccan human are secondary factors. When we meet Ascher, he’s grumpy. Frankly, who could blame him? He’s engaged to seal to Ursula—a cold and careless vampire who wants nothing more than to get her hands on a bloodstone— and he feels conflicted about his existence.

All of that changes when he meets Shawnette McCutchin. She’s beautiful, intriguing and possesses some of the most potent blood that he’s ever smelled. A war immediately begins inside Ascher. He craves Shauna’s blood just as much as he craves her body and the closer they get, the harder it is for him to control his urges. After Ascher calls off the sealing to Ursula, the trouble begins. His family’s peaceful period ends when Ursula’s army attacks the Rousseaus.

This series encompasses a family dynamic of which we’ve never seen. The Rousseaus share a common mortal and immortal bloodline, but loyalty is the thread binding this clan. Shauna and Ascher’s dissuaded love only strengthens the family bonds. Their unique union transcends bloodlines and completes the prophecy, defying the beliefs of centuries old covenants while shattering the wall between the Wiccan and vampire worlds that has existed for ages. This series is erotic paranormal romance intended for adults, as it contains adult sensuality, language and themes.

The Progeny (The Progeny Series #1)

“No fate other than the one I choose.”

The timeless creed, and tattoo, bore by the Rousseaus— a vampire clan with the purest bloodline of any vampire family. Out of this clandestine group came one who was different, yet the same: Ascher-a half-bloodling— half- human, half vampire.

Ascher questions the purpose for his existence and which world he truly belongs to: the human world or the vampire world. Two months from sealing to Ursula— a prearranged union to a woman he abhors — he’s at his wit’s end. He knows if he calls off the sealing, the Romanian clan will strike with deadly force, but he cannot see eternity with a cold empty shell of a woman like Ursula.

Just when he thought life was complicated enough, he meets Shauna— a beautiful, bi-racial human Wiccan — and immediately develops an unshakable attraction to her. She makes him feel alive and vital despite his origins and Ascher makes a decision that turns his immortal world upside down.

Blood Bonds (The Progeny Series #2)

“Forever. For always. For eternity.”
The ties that bind two hearts are powerful. For Ascher Rousseau and Shauna McCutchin, it’s more than just a blood bond. Their union is that of vampire legend. Their love is a predestined prophecy foretold centuries ago.

It’s a week before Ascher and Shauna's sealing and the couple is making final preparations for their eternity, but Ascher's ex has other plans. Ursula is hell-bent on revenge—revenge fueled by lover's scorn and her father's death—and she begins breeding a fresh army of newborn darklings to do her bidding.

When Ursula finds a new weapon—an ally with the capability to dismantle the Rousseau clan— Ascher and Shauna's bond is tested and they must stand together against Ursula or lose each other for eternity.

Blood Promise (The Progeny Series #3)

“Their love is fated by an ancient prophecy. Now the promise is fulfilled.”
Ascher Rousseau is a half-human, half vampire whose life has been a series of prophecies and predictions. After finding incredible love and passion with Shauna—a Wiccan with powers beyond anything he’s ever known—he seals to her and hopes for happiness. But his enemies seek to destroy all that he loves, and he finds that happiness never lasts for long.

Darkness is descending and a vampiric revolution is nearing. A new brood of hatchlings is born to join their darkling brothers, in preparation for war. A preordained chain of events is set into motion that could lead to the rise of the demonic “cloaked one” and his half-human fallen children, while ending humanity—as we know it.

Can a supernatural love and the loyal bond of a family save the Rousseaus and the world from certain extinction?

Excerpt

His vision saturated with a deeper shade of red, the beastly fiend struggling to break free of his remaining restraint. A thousand thoughts and sensations swept his primitive brain. Hurling her beneath him, he weighted her with his heated body, imprisoning her wrists above her head.

Shauna’s breaths came in excited, hurried gasps. “Take me, Ascher.” She should have been afraid; instead, her face displayed a curious look of satisfaction. Her nails ripped across his back, taunting the fiend inside.

Flipping her onto her stomach and scoring her back with his claws, his lips covered the back of Shauna’s neck with frenzied kisses. He wanted to fuck her. Hard. Reaching back, her hands caressed the tight muscles in his thighs, muscles straining with a virile type vigor that now concentrated in his pulsing cock. He was too close to the edge.

“I want you, Ascher. I want you to take me, right here, right now.”

He couldn’t think straight. The smallest part of him knew this was wrong, but the fire in his veins yearned for gratification. Blood muddied his vision as lust swelled in his shaft, disorienting him. Pulling her against him, Ascher engulfed Shauna into a tight hold. Her head fell back as their mouths merged, lips devouring with sinful and lustful kisses and tongues exploring the warm moist depths of one another’s mouths.

A vicious snarl sounded in his throat, as he squeezed the tempting flesh of her round rump. Wedging his arm between her legs and opening them, he guided his shaft to her slick folds. “Baby, you’re so damned wet.” He ran his clawed digits anxiously along the taut skin of her tummy, squeezing and teasing the nipples of her perky globes.

His mind clouded and vibrated with pain as he spiraled out of control. The mirror above the headboard gave Ascher a disturbing glimpse of his reflection, revealing a beastly deviant preparing to take his wife from behind—a position he knew she couldn’t handle, a position he loathed and promised himself he’d never use again. A million shards of shame pierced his heavy heart. This was wrong on so many levels.

To his surprise, Shauna’s eyes flashed with silver fire as her wild locks cascaded into her face, obscuring his view of her reflection. He needed to see her eyes again, to see if she was afraid. The bloodlust in his head wiped away his common sense and ability to channel her.

Shauna rocked her hips back against him, stroking his erection with her hand. “Don’t stop! Come on, Ascher. Fuck me!”

He reached to her neck, turning it to give her another passionate kiss, as the crown of his shaft rubbed against her hot flesh. “Damn it,” he groaned then whimpered, because it felt good, and he really wanted to take her. “No.” Love for her fought against the urge to fuck her until she collapsed, even though the blood-craving demon inside him wanted it.

“Come on, baby. Take me. I want you to.”

Gripping a handful of her hair, he pulled her back and against him. Her hips shifted, a soft sigh escaping her mouth as his swollen cockhead slipped inside her and sparks coursed his spine. “Oh, god.”

“Oh, yes!”

He palmed her rump, intending to thrust himself into her, but a rush of clarity flooded his mind. He couldn’t do it. “No, sweetheart—”

“You won’t hurt me. I really want this.” Her hips rocked back again. “I really want to experience you this way.”

“No!” He released her, letting her body slip out of his reverse bear hold and onto the bed. Backing away, his eyes fell downcast to avoid her stare. How could he look at her when he was so ashamed? Frantically running his hands through his shoulder length locks, Ascher balled them into tight fists at his sides. In the span of three heartbeats, he dressed and jumped over the terrace rails, soaring down to the beach below.

Meet Ashlynne!

Ashlynne Laynne has always had a soft spot in her heart for vampires but grew tired of the garlic fearing, sun-loathing creatures of old. An avid horror movie fan, she tends to enjoy media and music that is of a younger, more eclectic nature. This was the catalyst for her writing The Progeny. The vampire/witch pairing is unique and different when most books pair vampires with werewolves.

Ashlynne loves writing on the edge—combining the erotica and romance genres—and thinks of Ascher and Shauna as the wicked, damned version of Romeo and Juliet. She is currently working on book four of her Progeny Series, book one of her upcoming Rocker Series, and an untitled novella WIP. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her family. She juggles the hats of wife, mother, full time employee and part-time writer, hoping to write exclusively one day soon. Find and follow here online on Twitter. Check out her Manic Readers page, Blog and Website, or leave her a note in her Reader Email.

Ashlynne lives in North Carolina with her husband and teenage son.
