Cover Reveal for Scent of a Mate

Scent of a Mate by Milly Taiden

Mission: Scent a Mate

Jordan Alvarez knew that a promise to her best friend involved staking out the local wolf pack's scenting ceremony and recording the graphic details, but she was the writer and the only one with the balls to finish the task. No one would know that four human women had sneaked proof of their rituals, or at least, that was the plan until Aric Wolfe showed up.

Mission: Stake a Claim

Aric Wolfe knew his baby sister was up to something, and expected her best friend, Jordan, to be in on the chaos. He finally had an opportunity to lay claim to a mate that had been under his nose for years. Jordan's scent called to both the man and the animal, and he was done fighting the call of the beast. It was time to mark his mate.

Mission: Survive an Alpha

When a good intention creates a problem for the Wolfe family, Jordan finds herself being stalked by a woman intent on claiming Aric as her own. Battle lines will be drawn, love will be put to the test, and Aric will have to fight Jordan's strong personality to keep her alive. Two alpha hearts seeking control will either find the balance or risk losing their love forever.

Interviews, reviews, and more...

So I'm sure many of you noticed the distinct lack of interviews and reviews lately. I sincerely apologize for the lack, but I needed to focus on myself while I dealt with some issues, moved, and settled into a new job and city.

I will be restarting my interviews and reviews, but I will be scaling back interviews. Instead of 2 a week, every week, i will only be doing 1 a week as I feel up to it.

As much as I adored blogging and reviewing and interviewing, I want to focus more on the fun of writing. My time is more hectic right now and I'd rather spend that time working on my two WIP rather than more administrative work.

As always, thank you for your support lovelies!!!

I'm now a Crushing Hearts and Black Butterflies author!!!

I have begun a new chapter in my writing career. Yes, that's cliche, but I couldn't resist lol.

When I dove into the writing world one year ago, I was determined to be a self-published author. Part of that was I can be a control freak and didn't want to lose control over my baby. Part of that was also fear of rejection.

I'm grateful I chose the path I did for a number of reasons. It was a wonderful learning experience and it taught me so much. I made fantabulous friends and gained incredible confidence in myself. I wouldn't have changed a thing about that journey.

Being an indie author is hard work, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Being a self-published indie author is even harder. You must forge connections with editors, cover artists, formatters, swag designers, etc. It's very costly up front, although you do get more of the profits. It's time consuming and at times emotional as hell, believe it or not.

I hit a rough spot a few months ago as some of you know. For various reasons, I had to step back from everything and just take care of myself for a while. I knew I was letting people down, but sometimes you just have to do what's best for you. When I returned to the writing world and Facebook, I had a different perspective. No longer was I positive I had to do it all on my own. I started thinking about approaching an indie publisher and my thoughts kept drawing to a friend, Cameo Renae.

Cameo was the first interview I ever did on this blog. She had been self-published at the time and later rereleased her book with the group Crushing Hearts and Black Butterflies Publishing. I started bombarding her with questions and ultimately made a decision. Without giving myself time to think and talk myself out of my decision, I submitted Breaking the Nexus and Warrior Unleashed.

A week and a half later, CHBB told me they were interested in picking me up :) Last night, I officially signed a contract for these 2 books, Waking the Phoenix, and the third book of the trilogy featuring Connor and Sha.

Already I know I made the best decision I could right now. A huge weight lifted from my shoulders because I no longer have to stress over the details. I can focus on writing, I'll have deadlines to keep me on track, and I've been enveloped into a truly amazing family of authors. I'm so excited to find out what happens next and to take this next step in the journey of my writing.

Don't get ne wrong though. I'll be self-publishing Dante and Marisa's story and I still think self-publishing is amazing. But right now, I'm content to let someone take the reins for a while with the Mythrian Realm.

As I embark on this journey, I'll be sure to update you all on how different the process is from self-publishing. Thank you lovelies for your continued support and for joining me on this amazing adventure!

Musings from my Phone, Part 2 - Routines

I really shouldn't post from my phone right now because my poor hands are sore, in particular my thumbs, but I'll ignore common sense :)

What is it about routines? Why do we like them so much? Routines make me feel more comfortable. Every morning I meet a friend for breakfast and I have the same thing: maple and brown sugar oatmeal, skim milk, a fruit (strawberries usually) and I get a banana for later. Sometimes the work cafeteria doesn't have something and I'm left floundering to substitute one or more of my routine foods.

If only I had such a routine when it.came to writing! Alas, I don't really but that's another entry.

Routines make me feel calm and in control, but why is that? Am I really in less control of my life because I have to skip something in the morning before work or because I have to drink 2% milk instead of.skim? Probably not, but I still feel uncomfortable at having my routine shaken up.

I used to have a routine for blog work ans it helped keep things straight, so in some cases, routines are quite useful. I just need to find my way back to that one. I guess the trick to everything is moderation. Routines are good, but we have to be flexible. They can help us, but if we become too dependent on them, it can be disconcerting or even debilitating if we have to break our routines. Finding a balance so.that it works for you is key, I think.

Do you have any routines? Do you feel a little lost if you have to deviate from them?

Tuesday Teaser 7/23/13

Tuesday Teaser from an as yet, untitled WIP!

"Your name is Dante? You're kidding, right?" Laughter bubbled up inside of her.

"Why would I kid about my name?" He asked, brow knitted in puzzlement.

"Dante's Inferno?" At his blank look, Marissa sighed. "You're a dragon, dragons breathe fire... Oh, forget it. It's not funny if I have to explain it."

Her eyes narrowed as his lips twitched, the movement almost imperceptible. "Jerk! You knew exactly what I meant, didn't you?" She accused, her tone filled with indignation and embarrassment.

"Did you really think I'd never her that before, Mari?" He asked and she heard a low rumbling emanate from his chest. Unbidden, her eyes trailed down, following the motion as he shook with barely suppressed laughter. Heat flared within her at the enticing view of chiseled muscles beneath bronzed skin streaked with dirt and a faint sheen of sweat. Mind suddenly blank, she struggled to remember what they'd been talking about.

When Marissa's tongue darted to moisten lips gone dry, Dante's eyes darkened with lust. "See something you like?" He asked, lowering the towel he'd been using to scrub the grime from his body. He advanced toward her, each step the slow, measured pace of a predator stalking its prey. "You'd better be careful, Mari. Don't you kkow that the princess always has to be rescued from the big, bad dragon?'

The warmth of his breath caressed her face, his lips hovering just above hers. Her fingers pitched to trail across his lean torso. She craved the feel of his hard body beneath her hands the way some women craved chocolate.

"In case you hadn't noticed, this isn't a fairy tale and I'm sure as hell no princess." Not giving him a chance to respond, she rose up, claiming his mouth with the hunger of a starving woman.
